Evidence-Based Therapeutic Treatment Modalities
Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that combines cognitive-behavioural techniques with mindfulness principles. It helps clients manage intense emotions, reduce self-destructive behaviours, and improve relationships through skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. DBT is effective for borderline personality disorder and other emotional dysregulation challenges.
Somatic Infused Therapy
Somatic Infused Therapy integrates traditional talk therapy with body-based awareness techniques to promote healing through both mind and body. By focusing on physical sensations, movement, and breath, it helps release stored tension, trauma, and stress, fostering emotional regulation, self-awareness, and a deeper sense of safety and connection within oneself.
Mindfulness Based Interventions (MBI)
Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBIs) use present-moment awareness practices to reduce stress, anxiety, and emotional reactivity. Rooted in mindfulness meditation, MBIs help clients cultivate nonjudgmental awareness of thoughts, feelings, and sensations, promoting emotional balance, mental clarity, and resilience. Common approaches include Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)
Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) is a goal-oriented, strengths-based approach that emphasizes solutions rather than problems. It helps clients identify their resources, envision desired outcomes, and take practical steps toward change. By focusing on what works and building on past successes, SFT fosters empowerment, hope, and lasting positive transformation.
Attachment Based Interventions
Attachment-Based Interventions focus on understanding and strengthening emotional bonds formed in early relationships. Grounded in attachment theory, they help clients and families develop secure, trusting connections by addressing relational patterns, trauma, and unmet attachment needs. These interventions promote emotional safety, resilience, and healthier ways of relating to oneself and others.
Family Systems Therapy
Family Systems Therapy views individuals within the context of their family relationships, emphasizing patterns, roles, and dynamics that influence behavior and emotions. By exploring communication, boundaries, and intergenerational influences, it helps families resolve conflicts, improve connections, and foster healthier interactions, supporting individual growth and overall family well-being.
Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT)
Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) is a structured, evidence-based approach that strengthens family bonds by addressing emotions and attachment needs. It helps family members express feelings safely, understand underlying relational patterns, and resolve conflicts. EFFT fosters trust, emotional connection, and secure relationships, promoting healing and long-term family resilience.
Theraplay Inspired Interventions
Theraplay-Inspired Interventions are playful, attachment-focused therapies that strengthen parent-child relationships through structured, interactive activities. By emphasizing nurturing, engagement, and healthy boundaries, these interventions enhance emotional connection, trust, and communication. They support children’s social, emotional, and self-regulation skills while fostering secure attachments and positive family dynamics.
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) is a short-term, evidence-based psychotherapy that helps individuals identify, explore, and transform emotions to promote healing and personal growth. By accessing core emotional experiences, EFT supports processing unresolved feelings, improving self-awareness, strengthening relationships, and fostering adaptive coping, resilience, and emotional well-being.
Gottman Method
The Gottman Method is a research-based couples therapy that strengthens relationships by improving communication, resolving conflict, and enhancing emotional connection. It focuses on building friendship, managing disagreements constructively, and creating shared meaning. Grounded in decades of research, it helps couples foster trust, intimacy, and long-lasting relational satisfaction.
